Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

We sing every night before bedtime.  Tonight he was being especially adorable.

More Music...

We brought out our harmonica the other day to see if Adam would like it.  He does, of course.  It makes noise and noise is what toddlers do best.

Sweeping the carpet...

Fixing his helicopter...

Fixing the chair...

Music to My Ears

I had asked David if he'd be cool if I put on a little Jack Johnson (not that I need permission, but I wanted to just be nice) and as soon as I turned it on, David went into our room and brought out his guitar.  I guess he thought when I said,  "Hey, you cool if I turn on some Jack Johnson?" I  meant, "Hey, will you go grab your guitar and play it while I listen to Jack Johnson?"  Must be one of those guy-girl lost in translation things.

I soon turned off the music and grabbed the camera.  I was okay with the change in plans once I saw how cute these two are.

We love the park.

Sunny days are few and far between here but they are coming out more frequently.  We do our best to get out we can.

These are two of his excited faces.  He had just spotted the slides.

We also love soccer, so we are indoctrinating Adam to love it too.  It's finally starting to take.  Yesss....

Then some kids showed up playing basketball...Adam looked over, watched them, picked up his soccer ball and then did this.  He's brilliant.  I'm still pushing soccer on him, though.  Although, I can handle basketball.  I just really don't want it to be baseball.  It's not very entertaining for me to watch.  Or football.  After having neck surgery myself, the last thing I want is him having to deal with neck injuries.

Adam has been noticing airplanes and helicopters a lot in the sky.  He'll hear them and look up until he finds them.

Discovery Bay

David is starting his main training at work that lasts pretty much the rest of the year and during that time he can't take time off.  We decide just to take a few days off and head up to Discovery Bay for a little getaway while we can.  It was nice and relaxing.  Just what we wanted and needed.

David teaching Adam how to use a telescope.  They both thought it was pretty cool.  And Adam found a little lizard friend.

The waves at the Dungeness Spit were loud and large.  Adam was cool with it for a little while, but soon decided that they were pretty scary.  If anyone went near the water he would freak out and want them to get away fast.  It was really sweet how he was so concerned that someone might get hurt.  David was trying to cheer him up... obviously it wasn't working.

And in true mother fashion, I was doing my best to show Adam that we were safe.  He was clinging to me as if life depended on it and I am sure he really thought it did.

Rocks are a boys best friend.

These two actually played together quite a bit on the trip.  It was super cute.

Smile for Mom!

There are usually three responses when I ask Adam to smile for the camera.  First one (also the one that happens most often) is Adam completely ignoring me.  Second (the most rare one) is a big, squished face, cheesy grin that I love so so so much.  Third is a look that basically says, "What?"

Examples of responses 2 and 3 for your viewing pleasure:

For an example of Adam completely ignoring me, just take a stroll through a majority of my blog posts.  You'll find plenty.

I'm so happy when Daddy comes home...

Adam loves it when Daddy comes home.  He hears the keys in the door and gets so excited.  David is quick to get down and play with him.  It's one of the sweetest things to watch my two men play with each other as though nothing else in the world matters.

Puddles, Slides and Ramps

David plays soccer every Saturday and this past weekend Adam and I went to play at the playground where David plays.  They had four, yes FOUR, playgrounds at this school.  Two of them were all about bars and such, so nothing Adam could do.  The other two had slides and since slides bring out the happy in my little man, that is where we were.  I am just fine not letting him figure out bars can be fun.  Stay where you have the least chance of breaking your neck, little dude...

They also had this huge painted map in the parking lot.  Adam is already taking on the world.  I don't think the world is ready for this guy.  Not yet.  I know a lot of the children in our ward and let me tell you something...the coming generations are definitely chosen for this day.  The power you feel from these little spirits is beyond anything I have ever felt.  Don't underestimate what they will bring to the table once they are set loose on the world.  I pray with all my being that I get to watch it all.  Make no mistake, they are meant for greatness.

For those of you that wonder why Adam is always in his rain boots...here you go.  That, and he doesn't really want to wear any other shoes.  He was still soaked in his toes even though he was wearing them.  It takes talent.

We had slides, we had puddles, we had some climbing.  But what did we do for the longest time while we were there?  Running up some stairs and then down the ramp.  I'm not kidding.  Constant for about 20 minutes until the poor guy was so tired he just sat down and wouldn't go anywhere.  We left at that point.  If he ever grabs your hand and says "Go, go!" it means "Hey friend, how about you and me run in circles for a half hour...you know you want to."

Boy Time

Adam had a friend over today and they had such a great time.  I took so many pictures and it was pretty hard to go through them and only pick a few to put in this post.  I love watching Adam interact with other kids (without just pushing or hitting them).  These two boys were so much fun to watch.  I love it.

Balloons.  Ugh.  I have such a hard time with them, but I can't help myself.  Look how happy they are!  Can I deny them this joy just because it causes my heart pound out of my chest?  It was worth it.  So worth it.

They were really serious about the cars.  Like SERIOUS.  Roman is so incredibly cute.  He plays so well with Adam.  Adam is pretty lucky to have a friend like him and I really hope these guys get to be friends for a long, long, long time.  Wouldn't it be so much fun to show them how cute they were playing together when they were 2 when they are 16?  Love it.

Adam really has no sense of that thing we call "personal space".  He touches everyone.  Seriously.  If you come to the door, he runs up to you and grabs your hand to take you into his room.  It doesn't matter who you are.  He has tried to drag the UPS guy in once.  And he gets in every kids face to pat them on the face or on the head.  I think it is adorable.  He is just adorable.

Can this be any cuter?  No, no it can't.  We love the Holyoak family.  Thanks for such a fun day, Roman!
